The Pride of Beloit

"Nothing but good things to say about the guy."

The local paper is talking about how Beloit, Wisconsin is "beaming with pride" about hometown son Jim Caldwell; he's coaching the Colts in the Super Bowl. 

If Jim Caldwell is The Pride of Beloit, Beloit is the The Shame of Jim Caldwell.
 

 

The mostly darkened Beloit Mall, renamed The Eclipse Center in 2007, has only one retail store in operation; at its peak it housed over 60.

 
Beloit might be a good place to come from, if only because it means you're no longer there.  Believe it or not, there once was a man from Beloit who was a billionaire; he made his fortune in roofing, he died by falling through his roof.
